I loved this book - if anything, I like this even more than Volume 1。 If I had to use one word to characterize this book, it is diversity。Artists: The artists are no longer overwhelmingly from the Anglosphere。 There are from US, UK, Australia - but there are also artists from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Bulgaria inheriting the tradition of Burian and various Soviet artists, as well as a Finnish artist。 What I love is that the authors talk about how their context influences their art - for i I loved this book - if anything, I like this even more than Volume 1。 If I had to use one word to characterize this book, it is diversity。Artists: The artists are no longer overwhelmingly from the Anglosphere。 There are from US, UK, Australia - but there are also artists from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Bulgaria inheriting the tradition of Burian and various Soviet artists, as well as a Finnish artist。 What I love is that the authors talk about how their context influences their art - for instance, Tom Bjorklund visually draws from the subdued colors, that he observes from the Finnish landscape, while Emily Willoughby spoke about how her background in a Creationist church in a way inspires her to artistically portray evolution with even greater enthusiasm。 Medium/style: Some artists work exclusively in digital, some still do some paper work。 Some go for photorealism, some produce more styzlized work。 Some are conservative, some are playful。 Some have vibrant pallets, some subdued。 One artist even works in sculpture and molds rather than in the traditional 2D form! I love the variety of artistic expressions。Subjects: This is fun - far from being just dino art, there are amphibians, fish, pterosaurs, marine invertebrates, Cenozoic mammals, Paleozoic tetrapods, even humans! The artists spoke to their general areas of focus, and I think the editor even played with this。 For instance, an artist who said that their least favorite subject is birds would be put near another artist who is a bird illustrator, or the artist who said that they prefer to avoid mammals is put next to the mammal artist。 It really drives home that paleoart has concentrations and paleoartists have specialities。 Conclusion: I love the variety and diversity of this book in terms of artists, styles, and subjects, and of course I really enjoyed looking at all the art。 If cool paleoart sounds appealing to you then check this out。 。。。more

The interviews are fine, not revelatory。。。But that doens't matter because the pictures are all fabulous。 The interviews are fine, not revelatory。。。But that doens't matter because the pictures are all fabulous。 。。。more

На фоне первого тома книга выглядит уже не такой уникальной и безупречной, но все равно отличная。
